Christmas In Ridgefield

When I talk about Connecticut to people who a) have not been to Connecticut, b) have spent only a small amount of time here, usually on vacation, or c) have briefly lived here but only in one area of the state, I spend a surprising amount of time trying to dispel myths. Connecticut isn't really like that, I'll say, "that" being the fictional version of Connecticut people get from movies or TV.

And then I go to Ridgefield, or some town like it, and I think, Oh well. I guess they're right.

By the way, if you're near downtown Ridgefield, you must go to Books on the Common. It's very small, but the books are incredibly well selected. (I would almost say "curated," if that word didn't make me want to slap myself.) The tiny travel section had Robert Byron, which will basically make me love a bookstore for life.
