The Keney Memorial Clock Tower

If I've been writing about a lot of strange and whimsical sites lately, it's not on purpose. It's just that Connecticut can look like a wonderland at times. A crumbling, urban-renewal-wracked wonderland in places, but still.

In Hartford, where so much of the past has been razed, it seems like in each area of desolation something outstanding was left behind. Example: the Keney Memorial Clock Tower. It has no real function, except to display the (wrong) time and to remind passers-by of the affluence of another age.

There's more about it in this short piece I wrote over at Hartford City Center HamletHub. (The site is officially launching next month, and there will be much more content then. But you can like us on Facebook now. Please like us.)
